How to Make a Song Not End Abruptly in GarageBand

A song that ends abruptly can leave listeners surprised and unsatisfied. Instead, fading out the end of a song will give it a smooth and polished-sounding ending. This can be done using the master track in GarageBand. The master track controls the overall volume of all of the audio in GarageBand, making it easy to quickly fade-out the overall mix of a song as it ends.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the “Track” button inside GarageBand and select “Show Master Track.” The Master Track will appear at the bottom of the GarageBand window.

    • 2

Click on the volume line shown in the Master Track to create an edit point where you want the song to start fading.

    • 3

Click again on the volume line in the Master Track to create an edit point where you want the song to completely fade-out.

    • 4

Drag this second edit point all the way downward. This will cause the volume of the song to decrease until it is completely silent when it reaches the edit point.
