What does Transcribed from Hollywood mean like you would hear at the end of old radio programs?

"Transcribed from Hollywood" was an expression used in radio and television advertisements during the 1920s-1950s to indicate that the production originated from Hollywood, California, and was distributed via transcription (a recording made for broadcast). Before television, many top US radio programs were produced as live in-studio performances from New York, NY, and Hollywood. However, transcribing these programs onto vinyl records enabled local stations across the country to play them at flexible times. With transcribed shows, Hollywood production studios did not have to mount as many live performances of a program to provide content to all radio network stations.
