What is the frequency of radio wave?

The frequency of a radio wave is the number of oscillations of the wave per second. It is measured in hertz (Hz), which is equivalent to one oscillation per second.

Radio waves have a wide range of frequencies, from a few kilohertz (kHz) to several gigahertz (GHz). The frequency of a radio wave determines its wavelength, with higher frequencies having shorter wavelengths and lower frequencies having longer wavelengths.

The different frequency ranges of radio waves are used for different purposes. For example, AM radio waves are in the medium frequency (MF) range, with frequencies between 535 kHz and 1705 kHz. FM radio waves are in the very high frequency (VHF) range, with frequencies between 88 MHz and 108 MHz. Television waves are in the ultra high frequency (UHF) range, with frequencies between 470 MHz and 890 MHz.

The frequency of a radio wave is also used to determine its channel. For example, AM radio stations are assigned channels based on their frequencies, with each channel being 10 kHz wide. FM radio stations are assigned channels based on their frequencies, with each channel being 200 kHz wide.
