Where was the birth of techno and house music?

Techno music originated in Detroit, Michigan, in the United States, during the mid-1980s. It emerged from the city's African American and Latino music scenes, particularly from the influence of electro funk and the use of synthesizers and drum machines. DJs such as Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson are considered pioneers of the genre, and their productions helped define the characteristic sound of Detroit techno.

House music, on the other hand, has its roots in the underground club scene of Chicago, Illinois, also during the mid-1980s. It developed from disco, soul, funk, and early electronic dance music, and was heavily influenced by the use of drum machines and synthesizers. DJs like Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy, and Marshall Jefferson were instrumental in shaping the sound of Chicago house music, which is characterized by its repetitive beats, syncopated rhythms, and soulful vocals.

Both techno and house music gained popularity and spread beyond their respective cities of origin, becoming influential genres in electronic dance music worldwide.
