What is second tenor?

The second tenor is the second-highest vocal part in a four-part choir or quartet, typically sung by men. The second tenor part often provides harmony and support for the melody sung by the first tenor, and may also sing countermelodies or descants. The second tenor range typically extends from around C4 to A5, although it may vary depending on the specific piece of music. The second tenor part is often considered to be the most difficult to sing, as it requires a strong and well-developed vocal technique, as well as good intonation and musicianship.
