Radio Vs. TV

We rely on media to keep us entertained and informed. Newspapers and magazines are examples of the printed form, while computers and the Internet provide interactive versions. In between the two are technologies that rely on receivers and broadcast signals: radio and TV, which compete with and complement each other.
  1. Radio

    • Radio is a device that can receive and play audio signals such as AM, which typically consists of talk, sports and news, and FM, which can consist of music.

    TV

    • TV receives and plays video and audio signals that can be delivered through the air, cable or satellite. Modern sets now display high-definition digital pictures instead of standard-definition, analog images.

    Hearing

    • Because radio only engages the sense of hearing, it lets us perform other activities at the same time, such as driving or working.

    Experience

    • TV displays moving images as well as sound, providing a richer and more compelling entertainment experience.

    Archiving

    • For storage on computers or delivery through the Internet, radio archives take up less space and provide faster transmission because of their smaller file sizes.
