How to Use Premier Vinyl Record Pre-Cleaner

Vinyl record pre-cleaners penetrate the dirt and grime of vinyl records much better than water-based cleaning solutions. Some people clean vinyl records by making a solution of dish washing detergent and water. The solvent used in Premier vinyl pre-cleaner has a low surface tension and a low viscosity level. The solvent is twice as heavy as water that allows it to penetrate the waxy surface of the LP. The solvent also penetrates dust buildup in the grooves of the vinyl. The dust on vinyl records is responsible for the cracking and popping sounds that you hear on old records.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the LP from the paper record sleeve. Hold the edges of the LP with your thumb and fingertips and avoid touching the vinyl surface.

    • 2

The cleaner comes as an aerosol spray. Lightly spray the entire surface of the record with the cleaner. Allow the cleaner to sit on the surface for one to two minutes.

    • 3

Place the record into a vacuum record-cleaning machine. The machine will thoroughly clean all of the dirt, grime and debris on the record.

    • 4

Dry the record with a microfiber cloth. Flip the record over and repeat the procedure on the other side of the record.

    • 5

Place the record back in the paper sleeve after it is completely dry. Put the record back into the album jacket.
