The Philippines' Carinosa is a Philippine musical dance of Hispanic origin. Developed during the Spanish occupation in the Philippines, it requires the performers to use a Maria Clara dress for the female and a Barong Tagalog for the male, which are primarily used for formal occasions. There are also versions that use the patadyong kimona for the female and the camisa de chino for the male, Filipino outfits more popularly worn during Spanish colonial times.
Japan's Noh or Nogaku is a major form of classical Japanese musical drama. Staged since the 14th century, it requires performers to wear masks and multiple layers of shimmering Noh costumes that provide an oversized sculptural presence for the performers. These costumes mostly feature bold pattern layouts and opulent textile materials made into clothes inspired by those worn by samurai elites. This is because Noh's beginnings have been closely linked with the samurai class. Noh costumes are divided into several categories. Some of these include the kahatsa (wig), kaburi-mono (headdress), kitsuke (sleeved kimono), karaori (women's kimono), atsuita (male kimono) and hakama (loose trousers).

The Geommu also requires the use of a Kal, a symbolic replica sword reflecting the militaristic origins of the dance. This sword features three rings located in between the blade, and the handle and the rings' varying sizes make sounds when dancers move around during a performance.
