Remove any existing Steinberg keys from your computer. These look like USB flash drives and are actually computers that can store all of your license information for your Steinberg products. The software will not install properly if it is kept in.
Check the system requirements. Does your computer meet them? If you're reinstalling on the same computer then you already know the answer to that question. If you're reinstalling onto a new computer, right-click "My Computer," "Properties" and "General" to check the technical specifications.
Insert the CD-ROM into your drive. If you have the "Auto Insert Notification" activated, skip to the next applicable step below. Click on "My Computer" and double-click on the CD-ROM drive that has the disc. Navigate to the setup.exe icon and double-click.
Follow the on screen prompts. As you do, a screen dialog appears instructing you to install the Steinberg key. If you are reinstalling on a new computer, then a dialog will inform you it found new hardware and ask if you want to find new drivers or install automatically. Automatically install the drivers.
Register the software. Registration ensures proper technical support and timely updates.
Select the audio settings for the sound card. Click "Preferences" from the "Options" menu. Click the "Audio" tab. Two drop-down menus will be available. One for Playback and the other for Recording. Choose your audio card for both, then press the "OK" button.
