How to Make My Voice More Low-Pitched

Lowering the pitch of your voice can be accomplished if you practice exercises to expand your vocal range on a daily basis. The vocal folds determine the pitch of your voice based on the relative length. To expand your vocal folds and lower your voice, you would need to actually extend the length of your vocal folds. This expansion would allow you to reach lower notes in your range. Since it is not possible to expand the vocal folds, the next best option is to complete exercises that allow you to stretch the folds safely.

Instructions

    • 1

Take a big breath of air and pull air into your stomach. This will ensure that there is enough airflow to keep your vocal folds vibrating.

    • 2

Sing a pitch near the bottom of your range. Go up a few pitches higher and hold the note out for four seconds.

    • 3

Descend to the lowest note in your range by sliding through and blurring all of the notes in between on the sound "hmmm." Don't worry about singing actual pitches, the goal is not to become a singer but to gently stretch the vocal folds to lower your vocal range.

    • 4

Return to the original pitch you started on and attempt to go lower. Don't strain your voice, this is a delicate process. Simply going near the lowest note in your range will expand the vocal folds over time.
