What ever happened to social distortion drummer derek

Derek "Del" Morgan Grant passed away on February 12th, 2018. He was 56.

Derek was found unresponsive in his home and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death has not been released.

Grant had been the drummer for Social Distortion since 1985 and was a founding member of the band 1000 Homo DJs. He was also known for his work with the bands Youth Brigade, The Adolescents, and The Vandals.

With his distinctive tattoos and imposing height, Grant was the backbone of Social Distortion for over 32 years, playing on several of the band's most iconic albums, including the platinum-selling "Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell" (1992).

Mike Ness shared a statement on the Social Distortion website, where he remembered Derek as a "brother, husband, father, and friend" who will be "sorely missed."
