What were three conditions of the Berlin Conference 1884-85?

1. Freedom of navigation on the Congo and Niger rivers. This was important for European powers because it allowed them to trade with Central Africa without having to pay tolls to local rulers.

2. The prohibition of the slave trade. This was a humanitarian gesture, but it was also important for European powers because it prevented African slaves from being used to compete with European workers.

3. The recognition of European claims to African territory. This was the most important condition of the Berlin Conference, and it led to the partition of Africa among European powers.
