Why did The Doors name their band Doors?
The Doors did not name their band after the portal to the spirit realm. The name was chosen by lead singer Jim Morrison after reading Aldous Huxley's book, *The Doors of Perception*, about mescaline's (a psychedelic drug) effects on the mind. After reading this book, Jim suggested the name "The Doors" to his band, hoping that their music would be the "doorway" that people needed to experience deeper and more spiritual insights.
