What does the piccolo instrument look like?

The piccolo:

- Is similar to a flute but 6 inches shorter making it half the length

- Smaller in diameter

- Plays an octave higher than the flute

- Made of either grenadilla (African blackwood) or metal/silver.

- Has more complex keys to facilitate faster passages

- Has a distinctive higher octave than other woodwind instruments

- Produces the highest notes of almost all orchestral instruments.
