What is the length of a clarinet?

The length of a clarinet depends on the type and key of the clarinet. The Bb soprano clarinet, which is the most common, is approximately 27.5 inches (70 cm) long. The A clarinet, which is pitched a whole tone higher, is about 25.5 inches (65 cm) long. The B-flat bass clarinet is the longest, measuring approximately 39.5 inches (100 cm) in length. Other clarinets, such as the alto and contrabass clarinets, fall somewhere in between these lengths.
