How is the Trumpet played?
The trumpet is played by buzzing the lips into the mouthpiece. The player's lips vibrate against the mouthpiece, creating a sound which is shaped and amplified by the conical bore of the instrument. The player's fingers are used to press down on the valves, which change the length of the tubing and lower the pitch of the notes being produced. The player's tongue is used to articulate the notes, producing sounds with different tone colors and attacks.
