From Bottom (Thickest) String

Low E string: thickest, often plain (non-wound) string, plays notes E(2), A(3), D(4), G#(5), B(5), and E(6) with open chord positions

A string: wound wire strings, plays notes A(2), D(3), G(4), C(5), F(5), and A(6) with open chord positions

D string: wound wire strings, plays notes D(2), G(3), C(4), F(4), Bb(4), and D(5) with open chord positions

G string: plain(non-wound) string, plays notes G(2), C(3), F(3), Bb(3), D(4), and G(4) with open chord positions

B string: wound wire strings, plays notes B(2), E(3), A(3), D(4), Gb(4), and B(4) with open chord positions
