How did Beethoven die?

Beethoven died on March 26, 1827, in Vienna, Austria, at the age of 56. The cause of death was listed as liver failure, but it is believed that he also suffered from other medical conditions, including pneumonia and cirrhosis. Beethoven had been in declining health for several years prior to his death, and he had been largely deaf for the last 25 years of his life.
