The band released the album "Steel Dragon" in 1989 as a fictional band for the movie "Rock Star". The movie followed the story of a roadie who gets his chance to become the lead singer for a famous rock band.
Although the album was released under the Steel Dragon name, the music and vocals were all performed by Whitesnake members:
* David Coverdale - Vocals
* Adrian Vandenberg - Guitars
* Neil Murray - Bass
* Tommy Aldridge - Drums
* Denny Carmassi - Keyboards
The "Steel Dragon" project was a promotional tool for the movie and helped to introduce the band's sound to a wider audience.
