What instrument does Sam play in Rudolph the red nose reindeer?

Sam the snowman doesn't actually play an instrument in "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."

While the other reindeer are seen playing various instruments in the song and the classic stop-motion television special, Sam's role is simply to sing backup vocals and act as a comedic sidekick to Rudolph.
