How many symphonies did Beethoven write before he was deaf?

Ludwig van Beethoven was not deaf when he wrote any of his symphonies. He began to lose his hearing in his late twenties and was completely deaf by the time he was 50 years old. However, he continued to compose music until his death in 1827.
