Early Conn-Song flutes were made from grenadilla wood and came with sterling silver keys. Some of the later models (2, 3, and 4) were instead made from Bubbinga rosewood.
The model numbers indicated several different features. For instance, the Model-1 featured open holes with no key arms. The Model-3 had closed holes with nickel-silver keys. The Model-5 "Songster" was designed to be low priced, with a wooden head joint and silver plated nickel-silver key arms, and sold with a composition (hard-rubber) case instead of the deluxe case sold with the higher models.
