White was born in London, England in 1947 and began playing bass at an early age. He played in several bands before joining Yes in 1972, replacing Chris Squire. White appeared on five of Yes' studio albums, including "Tales from Topographic Oceans" and "Relayer." He left Yes in 1981 and was replaced by Trevor Rabin.
After leaving Yes, White continued to play music and worked as a record producer. He also released several solo albums, including "White Noise" and "Imaginations of the Heart."
