Can you leave an acoustic drum set in your garage?

Leaving an acoustic drum set in a garage may not be the best idea due to the potential effects of temperature and humidity changes on the drums. If the garage is not climate-controlled, the fluctuating conditions can impact the tuning of the drums, cause the wood to warp, and loosen the glue joints. The variations in temperature and humidity can also affect the drumheads, causing them to stretch, shrink, or even delaminate.

Furthermore, the garage may not provide adequate protection from dust and debris, which can accumulate on the drums and affect their sound quality and overall performance.

If you must store your drum set in a garage, try to find a spot that is not exposed to direct sunlight or extreme temperature changes. Consider investing in a dehumidifier or humidifier to maintain a consistent humidity level. Additionally, it's a good idea to cover the drums with a dust cover or tarp to protect them from dust and debris.

Regularly inspect the drums and make any necessary adjustments or repairs to keep them in good condition despite being stored in less-than-ideal conditions.
