What type of oboe reeds should you start with?

Beginners should start with a reed that offers a medium resistance. This provides a good balance between being easy to blow and yet still strong enough to give a reliable response over the whole compass of the instrument. If you are just beginning, look for a reed with a medium resistance and go from there if needed.
