2. Unscrew the locking nut. This is the nut that holds the whammy bar in place. It is usually located at the base of the whammy bar.
3. Gently pry the whammy bar upwards. Once the locking nut is loose, you can gently pry the whammy bar upwards until it comes out of the guitar.
4. Retighten the strings. Once the whammy bar is removed, you can retune your guitar.

* Use a flat-head screwdriver to loosen the locking nut.
* Make sure that you do not break the strings when you remove the whammy bar.
* Be careful not to drop the whammy bar when you take it off of the guitar.
