The longest recorded sustained note played on the saxophone is 46 minutes, 30 seconds. It was achieved on a tenor saxophone by Joseph Shabalala of Ladysmith Black Mambazo on 24 April 2009 at 20:00 on the set of Guinness primetime, in South Africa.
