Why would you not give a piano concert if had rudimentary skills?

There can be several reasons why someone would not give a piano concert despite rudimentary skills:

Lack of confidence: Performing a piano concert requires a certain level of confidence and comfort with one's abilities. If a person with rudimentary skills lacks confidence in their playing or feels inadequate compared to other pianists, they may hesitate to perform in a public setting.

Fear of negative judgment: Concerns about criticism or negative judgment from the audience or other musicians can discourage someone from giving a piano concert. If a pianist is aware of their technical limitations and believes they will not meet the expectations of the audience, they may decide not to expose themselves to potential criticism.

Performance anxiety: Some individuals experience performance anxiety, which is an intense feeling of nervousness or fear associated with performing in front of an audience. If the anxiety is severe, it may prevent the pianist from giving their best performance and lead to a negative experience overall.

Unpreparedness: Rudimentary skills may indicate a lack of preparation or practice. A piano concert requires a substantial amount of time and effort to prepare the repertoire, practice technical aspects, and develop musical interpretation. Without adequate preparation, the pianist may feel ill-equipped to present a concert and choose not to perform.

Focus on learning and improvement: For someone with rudimentary skills, their primary focus may be on learning and improving their playing rather than giving a concert. They might recognize that they still need to develop their technique, musical understanding, and repertoire before they feel ready to perform publicly.

Personal preference: Some individuals simply don't enjoy the spotlight and prefer to play piano for personal enjoyment rather than performing in front of an audience. This personal preference may outweigh any desire to give a concert.
