- A Phillips head screwdriver
- A flathead screwdriver
- A pair of pliers
Here are the steps on how to remove the OEM radio:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will prevent any electrical shock from occurring while working on the radio.
2. Remove the two screws that hold the radio faceplate in place. These screws are located on the top and bottom of the faceplate.
3. Once the screws are removed, gently pry the faceplate off of the radio with the flathead screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the faceplate.
4. Remove the four screws that hold the radio in place. These screws are located on the sides of the radio.
5. Once the screws are removed, gently pull the radio out of the dash. Be careful not to damage the wiring harness.
6. Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the radio. There are two plugs that need to be disconnected.
7. Once the wiring harness is disconnected, the radio is free to be removed from the car.
Here are some additional tips for removing the OEM radio from a 1995 Cirrus:
- If the screws that hold the radio faceplate in place are difficult to remove, you can use a pair of pliers to loosen them.
- If the wiring harness is difficult to disconnect, you can use a flathead screwdriver to pry the plugs apart.
- Be careful not to damage the antenna cable when removing the radio.
Once the OEM radio is removed, you can install a new aftermarket radio.
