Does the Fender Jazz bass have a thinner neck than P-bass and by how much?

The Fender Jazz Bass generally has a thinner neck than the Fender Precision Bass. The Jazz Bass width at the nut is about 1.5 inches (38 mm) while the Precision Bass is about 1.625 inches (42 mm). This difference of about 0.125 inches (3 mm) is noticeable to some players.
