Who was the first person to say fiddle sticks?

The exact origin of the phrase "fiddle sticks" is unclear, but it has been around for centuries. One possible origin is the term "fiddlest," which was used by the Ancient Romans to refer to the thin wooden sticks used to hold the strings of their musical instruments. Another possibility is that the phrase is derived from the practice of using a stick to stir the strings of a fiddle or violin, creating a dissonant sound.

Regardless of its precise origins, the phrase "fiddle sticks" eventually became a common exclamation expressing annoyance or frustration. It can be found in literature and popular culture from at least the 17th century onwards, and continues to be used today.
