Why are songs numbered in classical music IE 5th?

In classical music, movements of a larger work are often numbered sequentially, rather than being given titles. For example, a symphony might have four movements, each of which would be numbered 1, 2, 3, and 4. This numbering system is used to indicate the order in which the movements are to be played.

The term "5th" in classical music typically refers to the fifth movement of a work. For example, the fifth movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 is known as the "Ode to Joy." In some cases, a work may have more than five movements, and these will be numbered accordingly. For example, Mahler's Symphony No. 8 has six movements, which are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
