Can you use a regular guitar tuner for your 12 string guitar?

While a regular guitar tuner can display accurate tuning for the individual strings of a 12 string guitar, keep in mind that 12 string guitars are often tuned in pairs instead of individually.

Each pair's strings are tuned the same, but an interval of one octave apart gives a richer and more complex tone. Therefore, using tuner exclusively might not accurately reflect the desired tuning effect achieved by tuning the strings in pairs.
