What are the strings on electric guitar called?

Electric guitar strings are usually made of steel, nickel-plated steel, or stainless steel. They are available in different thicknesses, or "gauges," which affect the sound and playability of the guitar. The standard set of strings on an electric guitar consists of six strings, with the thickest string at the bottom and the thinnest string at the top. The strings are numbered from 1 to 6, with the 1st string being the thinnest and the 6th string being the thickest.

The names of the strings, from lowest to highest, are:

6th string: Low E

5th string: A

4th string: D

3rd string: G

2nd string: B

1st string: High E

These names indicate the note that each string is tuned to when the guitar is in standard tuning.
