How many instrument players were needed to form the pinpeats?

The number of instrumentalists playing in ensembles and the instrumental sets varied during history. In the mid-seventeenth century, at the Royal court there were four types of pinpeat and three types of mahorī ensembles, each using instruments from three classes - strings, percussions (both tuned and non-tuned) and free reeds.

- Pinpeat ensembles required between seven and fifteen instruments.
