What instruments did the troubadours use?

Troubadours, medieval poets and musicians from Occitania and northern Italy, used a variety of instruments to accompany their songs, which included:

1. Fiddle: A bowed string instrument, similar to the modern violin, but with a more rounded body and fewer strings.

2. Vielle: A fretted string instrument similar to a hurdy-gurdy, but with a crank-operated wheel to turn the strings.

3. Lute: A plucked string instrument with a rounded body and a neck with frets.

4. Gittern: A plucked string instrument with a flat back and a neck with frets, similar to a modern guitar.

5. Harp: A string instrument with multiple strings stretched over a wooden frame.

6. Citole: A plucked string instrument with a box-shaped body and a neck with frets, similar to a zither.

7. Flute: A woodwind instrument with a cylindrical body and holes for fingering.

8. Recorder: A woodwind instrument with a cylindrical body and a beak-shaped mouthpiece.

9. Shawm: A double-reed woodwind instrument with a conical body and a flared bell.

10. Drum: A percussion instrument with a skin stretched over a cylindrical or circular frame.
