What are scales and chords?

Scales are ordered sets of notes that form the basis of most Western music. They can be ascending (from low to high) or descending (from high to low). The most common scales are:

- Major scale: C, D, E, F, G, A, B

- Minor scale: A, B, C, D, E, F, G

- Pentatonic scale: C, D, E, G, A

Chords are groups of three or more notes that sound pleasing when played together. The most common chords are:

- Major chord: C, E, G

- Minor chord: A, C, E

- Seventh chord: C, E, G, B

- Dominant seventh chord: C, E, G, Bb

Scales and chords are used to create melodies and harmonies in music. They can also be used to improvise and create new music.
