1. Check the Key Arms
Ensure the G Sharp key arms are properly aligned and not bent. If a key arm is bent or out of alignment, it can cause the key to stick.
2. Remove the Key Cap
Remove the key cap of the G Sharp key and check the key cork. If the key cork is dry or damaged, replace it with a new one.
3. Clean the Key Mechanism
Dirt or debris can cause the key mechanism to stick. Use a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution to gently clean the key mechanism and remove any dirt or debris.
4. Lubricate the Key Mechanism
Apply a small amount of key oil to the moving parts of the key mechanism, including the key posts and the pivot screws. This will help lubricate the mechanism and reduce the chances of sticking.
5. Adjust the Key Height
If the G Sharp key is too low, it may be catching on the tone hole or the octave key. Use the adjustment screw to raise the key to the proper height.
6. Check the Spring Tension
The key spring should provide enough tension to return the key to its normal position after being played. If the spring tension is too weak, the key may not return properly and could stick. Use the adjustment screw to adjust the spring tension.
7. Inspect the Key Post
The key post on which the G Sharp key pivots should be secure. If the key post is loose, it could cause the key to wobble and stick. Tighten the key post if necessary.
8. Seek Professional Help
If you are unable to fix the sticking G Sharp key on your own, it is recommended that you take it to a qualified saxophone technician for further diagnosis and repair.
