How to make a hapi drum?

### Materials:

- 1 large piece (approximately 12-14 inches in diameter) of 1/4 inch thick plywood

- 1 piece of 1/8 inch thick foam

- 1 piece of cotton fabric (approximately 18 inches square)

- 1 roll of duct tape

- 1 wooden dowel (approximately 12 inches long)

- 1 leather thong or piece of rope (approximately 18 inches long)

Tools:

- Jigsaw or scroll saw

- Drill

- 1/2 inch drill bit

- Scissors

- Stapler

- Hot glue gun

Instructions:

1. Cut the plywood into a circle using the jigsaw or scroll saw.

2. Sand the edges of the plywood circle until they are smooth.

3. Drill a 1/2 inch hole in the center of the plywood circle.

4. Cut the foam into a circle the same size as the plywood.

5. Glue the foam to the plywood circle, making sure the foam is centered.

6. Cut the fabric into a circle that is 2 inches larger than the plywood circle.

7. Fold the edges of the fabric under 1 inch and staple them to the plywood circle, making sure the fabric is pulled tight.

8. Wrap the dowel with the leather thong or rope, making sure there is enough left over to attach it to the drum.

9. Insert the dowel into the hole in the center of the drum.

10. Wrap the remaining leather thong or rope around the dowel and tie it off, making sure the dowel is secure.

Tips:

- You can use any type of wood for the drum, but plywood is a good choice because it is strong and lightweight.

- You can use any type of fabric for the drum, but cotton is a good choice because it is soft and breathable.

- Be careful not to over-tighten the fabric when you staple it to the drum, as this can cause the drum to warp.

- You can decorate your drum however you like, such as by adding paint or stickers.

- Have fun! Making a hapi drum is a great way to relax and express your creativity.
