Who made the first drum kit and where?

William F. Ludwig, Sr. is credited with developing the first complete set of drums to be played by one musician in the early 1900s in Chicago, Illinois. Ludwig's innovation combined various drums and cymbals that could be mounted together for solo use. However, other percussionists like Baby Dodds of New Orleans developed similar setups around the same time.
