What it is the sound of music about?

The Sound of Music is a 1965 American musical drama film produced and directed by Robert Wise, and starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. It is an adaptation of the 1959 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical of the same name, which in turn is based on the 1949 memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers.

Set in Austria on the eve of World War II, the film tells the story of Maria, a postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess to the seven children of Captain Georg von Trapp, a former naval officer and widower.

Maria brings love and music into the lives of the von Trapp family, but their happiness is threatened by the Nazis. The family must decide whether to stay in Austria or to flee the country.

The Sound of Music was a critical and commercial success, winning five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It is considered one of the greatest musicals of all time.
