When was Elvis Presleys first public performance?

Elvis Presley's first public performance was on October 3, 1945. He was only ten years old at the time and competed in a talent show held at the Mississippi-Alabama Fair and Dairy Show. Despite being nervous, Presley sang "Old Shep" and won second place, receiving $5.00 (equivalent to $74 in 2020) and the chance to perform on stage again the following Saturday.
