How did Islamic music begin?

The roots of Islamic music can be traced back to the early days of Islam in the 7th century. It is believed that the earliest forms of Islamic music were religious chants and recitations, known as qawwali, which were performed in mosques and other religious settings. These chants were typically accompanied by percussion instruments such as the tambourine and the daf, as well as stringed instruments such as the oud and the qanun. Over time, Islamic music began to incorporate influences from other cultures, including Persian, Arabic, and Turkish music, and developed into a rich and diverse tradition.
