What is an iTunes library?

An iTunes library is a collection of digital media files, including songs, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and audiobooks, organized and managed by Apple's iTunes software. When you create an iTunes library, iTunes automatically imports all of the media files from your computer's music, movie, and TV show folders. You can also manually add files to your library from external sources, such as CDs or DVDs.

Your iTunes library is stored in a file called "iTunes Library.xml" on your computer. This file contains information about all of the files in your library, including their location, metadata (such as artist, album, and genre), and playback statistics.

You can use iTunes to manage your library by creating playlists, organizing files into albums and genres, and syncing your library with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You can also use iTunes to search for files in your library, create backups, and share files with other users.

An iTunes library is an essential tool for managing your digital media collection. It provides you with a convenient way to access, organize, and enjoy your music, movies, and TV shows.
