Beethoven's father was known to be demanding, and sometimes even abusive, in his teaching methods. He would often punish Beethoven for making mistakes, and would sometimes lock him in a dark room as a form of punishment. Beethoven's father also instilled in him a strong work ethic, which helped Beethoven to become one of the most prolific composers in history.
