How are frequency and sound related?

Frequency and sound are related in several ways. Here are some key aspects:

1. Pitch Perception: The frequency of a sound wave determines its pitch. Higher frequencies correspond to higher pitches, and lower frequencies correspond to lower pitches. This is because the frequency of a sound wave determines how fast the air molecules vibrate, which in turn affects how our ears perceive the sound.

Different instruments and voices have unique frequency spectra, which give them their characteristic sounds.
