Instructions

  1. The F Scale

    • 1

Take out your instrument and set it up. Play F as the fundamental tone above Bb. F is in first position.

    • 2

Play the next pitch in the scale in fourth position. This note is G.

    • 3

Proceed to the third note of the scale, A, in second position.

    • 4

Play the fourth note of the scale, Bb, in first position. First position is all the way in.

    • 5

Play the fifth note of the scale in third position. This note is C.

    • 6

Proceed to the sixth note of the scale, which is D, in fourth position. Note that these notes are getting higher and you need to tighten your embouchure. You can play D in first position as well.

    • 7

Play E in second position for the seventh note of the scale.

    • 8

The final note of the scale returns you to first position and F.

    • 9

Play the scale backwards so you end back on F, the same note that you started.
