How to Make a Bass Clef

Western music is written on a chart called the grand staff that has five lines and four spaces. The grand staff can be separated into two components: the bass clef and the treble clef. The bass clef is the bottom of the two and contains the notes below middle C. Resembling a backwards letter "C," it is also the easier clef to draw by hand.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw five parallel lines on a sheet of paper. Number the lines from one to five, starting with the bottom line.

    • 2

Place the tip of the pencil near the left edge of the fourth line (the second line from the top). Draw a curved mark up and to the right until you touch the fifth.

    • 3

Continue curving the line down and to the left. Stop when you reach the second line.

    • 4

Draw two dots to the right of the curved mark on either side of the fourth line.
