What is the pitch of a music note?

Pitch is a subjective perception of sound that allows us to order sounds as "higher" or "lower" in the frequency range. In music, the pitch of a note is the same as the frequency at which the note's sound wave vibrates. The higher the frequency, the higher the pitch. The lower the frequency, the lower the pitch.

Pitch can be measured in units called Hertz (Hz). One Hertz represents one vibration per second. For example, if a note has a pitch of 440 Hz, it means the sound wave associated with the note vibrates 440 times each second.

The perception of pitch is logarithmic, which means that a note with twice the frequency of another note will sound as if it is an octave higher. For example, a note with a pitch of 220 Hz is an octave below a note with a pitch of 440 Hz.
