How do you tell age and model of your fender telecaster?

There a few ways to tell the age and model of your Fender Telecaster.

Serial Number: The serial number is one of the most important clues to determining the age of your Telecaster. Fender's serial numbering system has changed several times over the years, so by decoding the serial number, you can narrow down the possible manufacturing dates. The serial number is typically located on the neck plate or the back of the headstock.

Neck Plate: The neck plate on a Telecaster can also provide some clues about the age and model. The shape and design of the neck plate have varied over the years, and some models have specific neck plate markings or logos. For example, early Telecasters had a "spaghetti" logo on the neck plate, while later models have a more modern logo design.

Body: The body of a Telecaster can also provide some clues about the age and model. The shape and contour of the body have changed slightly over the years, and some models have specific body features or markings. For example, some Telecasters have a "butterscotch blonde" finish, while others have a more traditional sunburst finish.

Headstock: The headstock of a Telecaster can also provide some clues about the age and model. The shape and design of the headstock have varied over the years, and some models have specific headstock markings or logos. For example, early Telecasters had a "Fender Telecaster" logo on the headstock, while later models have a more modern "Fender" logo.

Pickups: The pickups on a Telecaster can also provide some clues about the age and model. The type of pickups used, as well as the placement and wiring of the pickups, can vary depending on the model and year of manufacture.

Other Features: In addition to the above, there are a number of other features that can help you determine the age and model of your Telecaster. These features include the bridge, tuners, knobs, and pickguard.
